This is the system that most people seem to use for deck hatches. They do not seem to blow away, besides when the wind is strong the mosquitoes don't usually come calling. The same side as the nav station as it simplifies cable runs. Ours is on the mast, but we do have a stainless steel antennae post at the stern, in the middle. We tried to find these and contacted Goiot. Based on cost the decision was immediate, can't remember numbers but it was eyewatering. We now use net and masking tape...

Personally I am not convinced that making water from (inefficient) stored power is a good solution. I've heard these are affordable and pretty good units, but also note the +/-15 on output. If its -15% then that's 50l per 12hr at 50AH. OK for some of this demand if you have good windgen/solar panel ...
